Who fit the rimless eyeglasses well?
Rimless eyeglasses, also called frameless eyeglasses, make the glasses almost invisible on your face. Pros and Cons of "Totally" rimless eyeglasses?
i'm about to invest in a pair new pair of eyeglasses and from the research i've collected i have made up my own list of pros and cons about totally rimless frames (A.K.A. "Drillmounts") and i would like some feedback on weather you generally agree with my characteristics of this type of frame and what your personal opinion is about this type of frame
Pros:
1.Very Stylish type of frame(probally the most stylish type of frame in my opinion)
2.They give you a look of "invisibillity"(like your not wearing glasses at all)
Cons:
1.Depending on the brand who made the frame, they can be a bit pricey.
2.Extremely!!! fragile,so they require EXTREME! care(no accidental sleeping in them, or accidental dropping of the frame)
3.Even with adequate care the screws tend to come loose after a while, so you will have to occasionally take them back to the place you brought them from and get the screws re-tightend
I'm on my second pair; both titanium frames with ultralight weight, light sensitive lenses. Titanium is expensive, but is lightweight and very tough, and doesn't aggravate my nickel allergy. Ultralight lenses also cost more, but they never hurt the bridge of my nose. I often sleep in a semi-sitting position, sort of like you would in a recliner chair, and I have slept in both pair many, many times. Dropped'em a few times, too, although never from any great height...more like knocking them off the table.
The first pair had an all-metal attachment of the ear pieces to the lenses. After a year or so, the lens layers began to separate (if that's the word I'm looking for?) around those attachments, and made a small, hazy circle around them. It did not interfere with my vision, and I couldn't see the hazy spots in the mirror, only when I held the glasses and looked at the lenses. Still, I didn't like it.
This pair has a metal front on the attachment, but the back looks like a plastic clip with plastic casings over the bars/screws that go through the lenses. I've had them just over a year with no trouble at all with them.
I don't have a lot of money, but, for me, glasses are one thing I never scimp on. I avoid high fashion frames, but I do spend what I must to get frames I can look at happily in the mirror for at least two or three years, even if I change hair color (Learned that the hard way!). And, as I have quite a strong prescription, it's worth it to me to get the lightest lenses available. I love rimless glasses, and will probably never again buy anything else.
