We can all appreciate the advances of medical science. Imagine where we would be without all these wonderful advances. We take some for granted now, but even what seems so basic to us at this point in time has a big impact on our lives, things like corrective lenses and bifocal reading glasses. After all sight is one of our basic five senses; those of us who don't have perfect sight know how valuable these inventions have been.
People often use contact lenses either for looks or for some they are more comfortable overall for day to day use, however the use of frames is still vital. Some people love glasses for the look they provide, with so many frames available they can even be a fashion statement, but some just want or need them for reading. Those who just want them for reading generally have a hard time focusing on objects that are close to them. There are some who are unable to see both objects in the distance and objects that are close to them. These are the people who are usually above the age of 40 years. They are said to be suffering from Presbyopia.
Bifocal reading glasses are a must for those who have the above mentioned issue. When someone suffers from Presbyopia the person is not able to focus on either far or near objects or print, but they also have a hard time transitioning between the two. This is when the bifocal lenses can be of great help and convenience. These bifocal glasses allow the user to clearly focus on items that are both far and near. The reason is because these glasses have two separate prescriptions in each lens. The upper prescription helps the user focus on things that are farther and the lower one helps magnify so the user can also read or see things better at a close range. The only thing one needs to adjust is the angle of the eye to see through either the upper and lower lens division depending on which is needed.
Without bifocal reading glasses people have to use two separate pairs of glasses in order to have near and far sighted vision. But with bifocals only one pair is needed both making life a little easier and removing some of the risk of losing one of those two pairs of glasses needed to see clearly.
If you simply need glasses to read things up close then you just need a pair of reading glasses. But if you already had a prescription and now reading things up close is becoming difficult you may want to look into getting a pair of bifocal reading glasses.

How much does it cost to put a new prescription in old glasses?
How much does it cost to put your new prescription in your last pair of glasses? I ask this because I hate my new glasses (too small, too tight, hurts my left); fortunately, I still have last pair of glasses which are in great condition - I really loved those glasses, they fit me perfectly.
Depends on your prescription, the style of eyewear and any coatings. Consider first bringing your eyeglasses back and having them readjusted. If they re still too tight, bring them someplace else to see if they can fix it AND then order new lens for your old glasses. I've given up with the mall shops. I was endlessly getting things readjusted. I paid more this last time to the eyewear place associated with my ophthalmologist and it is done right the first time. Worth the price for reduced aggravation.
The lens for one eye cost $135. The lens for the other eye costs $60. My sister paid $65 to replace both lens in her eyewear. In both cases, these costs were related to the prescription, rather than the style of eye wear. I've had my eyewear for 10 years and I don't want to give it up.
