Can I use my contact prescription to get eye glasses?
I got my eye exam for contacts and when i got my contacts on the box it says Pwr: -2.25
i think thats the power (my prescription)
can i just uses that number to get eye glasses or is it different for glasses
Usually the sphere part of the prescription is the same for glasses & contacts if the power is -4.00 or less, but sometimes, if you have a small amount of astigmatism, they will ignore it for contacts so you can get the cheap ones. For glasses, you want to include the astigmatism part (cylinder & axis, if any) to get the best correction. Also you need your PD, this is the distance between your pupils, this is so they know cut the lenses to both fit the frame and be centered over your eyes.
Try calling or visiting the place where you got the contacts and see if they have this information. Since you already spent quite a bit of money there to get contacts, maybe say, "look, I don't have a lot of extra money and I am trying to get some cheap glasses on-line so I don't over wear my contacts and mess up my eyes, do you have my corresponding eyeglasses prescription?
